The marquee is butted right up to your house and leaned towards your property where if there are no obstructions, our marquee is touching your house. If you looked directly up between the “join” (there is no physical join!) of the marquee and your property you may see a small gap, however most house roof’s protrude further out than the house wall, so the roof will catch any rain that may have landed in between the tiny gap between the marquee & house.
If you have a soffit/gutter just above your doors that protrudes out (quite common on new single storey extensions) the marquee will be butted right up to the soffit that sticks out.
What we do to make this gap as airtight as we possibly can is infill the gaps with a rolled piece of carpet either side of the doors – so in winter it reduces any draughts that come through.

How Does Butting up a Marquee to your House work?
The eave height of a marquee will allow you to but up a marquee to your house quite easily. The roof rafters of a commercial grade marquee are as tall as 2m high which is tall enough to span over even the tallest of bi fold doors. You can then step from your house seamlessly into the marquee as if it was another room giving you that much needed space for your party.

We contacted Abacus to put up a marquee in our garden for our daughter's wedding. It was very quick to agree and finalise the contract with instant responses. The team were helpful in discussing our needs with us..we have a strange shaped garden and weren’t sure what we needed, in terms of shape and size. A team member came over and advised us, with the proviso that we could cancel an additional smaller marquee if we felt we didn’t need one on the day. It looked terrific..the flooring was great, the interior lining and the lights made the whole thing look really pretty and the heating was effective. Great communication, delivered on time and super friendly staff. The marquee was exactly as described. Delivered on Thursday for event on the Saturday. Collected on Monday (bank holiday) very promptly and again really friendly staff. Highly recommend and would definitely use again. Point to note - I didn’t think the fairy lights would be bright enough to light the marquee on a dark night so I had bought additional lighting - but they were really very effective and additional lighting (whilst a bonus) weren’t necessary.
